What is a community land trust?

The community land trust is structured like a non-profit land trust. It aims to protect, preserve and lay out lands ecologically for the community. As a fiduciary, Terravie must see to it that the use of its land meets the standards of its charter and rules .

A community land trust is a non-profit charitable organisation which aims to protect, preserve and layout lands for the community, insuring the unique and perpetual vocation of the site, without modification due to econimical, political or organizational situations.

This initiative is based on the principle that land is not a commodity, but a fundamental resource to be protected for the community as a whole.
